WILL MIFID II CUT ANALYST JOBS? – Under the current system analysts are typically paid via the commissions generated from equity trades, which are then divided up inside the firm along with other streams of income. A report produced by corporate broker Capital Access Group (CAG), has highlighted a handful of analyst’s salaries are not covered by commissions but rather by what the fund managers are currently paying. The report suggests that only 662 out of the 1,248 UK analysts would have their salaries covered by the fund managers, and with fund managers looking to reduce research payments to £90m by 2021, it will only be enough to support 430 analyst. That being said, this is only one route out of many the city could take and it’s impossible to know for sure how the city will react to the reforms. #SpartanInternational
