BARCLAYS CEO BACK ON TOP – Barclays CEO, @Jes Staley, has survived a year-long probe into his attempts to uncover a whistle-blower. Staley is facing a penalty of between £1M and £2M, which will also include a bonus clawback from Barclays. Compliance professionals were undecided on whether the fine was enough to steer other CEO from future misconduct, or if Staley got away with a slap on the wrist. A Research Economist, @Tom Kirchmaier, said “Protecting whistle-blowers is an integral part of keeping the system healthy and working, and so the response by the FCA very much send the wrong signal to the financial industry, and is in the long run counterproductive for the entire sector” #SpartanInternational
